Research on fuel and electric energy consumption in passenger cars in a mixed cycle, using the example of local road traffic in Opole

As part of the article, an analysis was conducted on the actual fuel consumption and electric energy consumption of passenger cars in a mixed driving cycle, taking into account the specifics of local road traffic in Opole. The research was carried out on a route that included urban, suburban, and highway driving conditions, reflecting the guidelines developed for RDE cycles. The measurement results of fuel and electric energy consumption in the mixed cycle in Opole for the tested passenger cars were compared with the catalog values declared by their manufacturers. In the analysis of the results, discrepancies between actual and catalog data were addressed, and in the case of the internal combustion engine vehicle, the fuel consumption was converted into energy expenditure. This allowed for a comparison of the energy efficiency of different powertrain systems in a real-world road cycle. Attention was also drawn to the difficulties in developing a mixed driving cycle that accurately reflects local traffic conditions in Opole. The article aims to contribute to a better understanding of the impact of local road infrastructure, traffic intensity, and driving style on the fuel and electric energy consumption of passenger cars.
