Assessment of the influence of physicochemical properties of fuels containing sustainab

The article presents the effect of the concentration of components A and B on selected physicochemical parameters of mixtures with mineral fuel Jet A-1 and on parameters characterizing the combustion process in aircraft turbine engines. Selected physicochemical properties included parameters such as calorific value, viscosity at -20oC, density and distillation temperature of 50% of the fuel. The combustion process was tested on engine stands equipped with engines: GTM 140 and DGEN 380. For both engines, tests were carried out at different engine speeds and for each speed the mass flow rate of fuels mf and the temperature in the combustion chamber were determined. Based on these values, the functions mf = a e^(-Ea/RT) were determined, which correspond to the kinetic equations of the complete combustion reaction chain. As a result of the tests, it was found that: • Ea/R values determined by the trend line method for the GTM 140 engine are linearly related to the values obtained for the DGEN 380 engine • For both engines, a linear relationship was found between Ea/R and the values of selected physicochemical parameters of the mixtures; for the DGEN 380 and GTM 140 engines, a deviation from linearity was observed for the A20 and B5 mixtures. For the B5 mixture, a deviation from linearity was determined as differention between the Ea/R value determined for both engines, and the values resulting from the linear relationships between Ea/R and the physicochemical parameters Ea/R. A close correlation was found between the Ea/R values determined for the GTM 140 and DGEN 380 engines. This indicates specific features of the chemical structure of the B5 mixture, distinguishing it from the other fuels tested. Keywords: component, fuel properties, combustion, turbine engine For the B5 mixture for both engines the differences between the Ea/R values determined experimentally , and the values resulting from the linear dependencies of Ea/R on the physicochemical parameters determined for the other tested mixtures - Ea/R were determined. A close correlation was found between the Ea/R values determined for the GTM 140 and DGEN 380 engines. This indicates specific features of the chemical structure of the B5 mixture, distinguishing it from the other fuels tested. As a result of the research, it was found that the experimentally determined Ea/R values can be a useful criterion for comparing the effect of the chemical structure of fuels on the standard physicochemical properties of fuels and the course of the combustion process in various turbine engines.
