Geopolitical conditions of rightsizing combustion engines
Just a year ago, there were suggestions and even demands about the death of the internal combustion engine. Such considerations were conducted both in the field of science and engineering, where the prospects of the dominance of electric drive in the next 10-30 years were indicated. Only a few exceptions supported a moderate approach to the issue of ending the operation of the combustion engine. Some people personally paid for it with their positions for the delay in implementing the so-called zero-emission drives. Today, when the pace of purchasing electric vehicles has significantly decreased, and fans of many brands even declare their desire to stay with the combustion drive and when subsequent factories are starting to close, it is necessary to strongly verify the views on the drive and modern technologies as well as legal regulations. A compromise seems to be a hybrid drive with an engine covered by the rightsizing trend. The aim of the article is to show different views on the application of rightsizing due to techniques, legal issues, ecology and economy, but also social ties in different parts of the world.
