The UK Government is currently involved with legal action due to poor air quality, in particular high NOx levels in urban centres. These high NOx levels are associated with emissions from diesel engines and these vehicles have been given negative press coverage in recent months. Heavy duty diesels are the workhorse of public transportation with most city transport schemes being heavily dependent on them. This presentation considers the current situation in terms of public transport and future trends for diesel use.
