This article contains the test results of the Doosan MD196TI engine used for main propulsion in inland waterway vessels. The tests were carried out in accordance with the requirements of ISO8178. This standard specifies the test standard necessary to be met by the engine test bench. The article is devoted to the analysis of errors created during measurements and the same requirements set for measuring devices used on the engine dynamometer. The entire analysis of the test results refers to the EU Directive 2016/1628, effective from 1 January 2019, regarding the level of exhaust emissions from ships sailing in inland waters.
